This Shopify SEO case study follows a German organic food store that reached 6,040 clicks and 211,000 impressions in a 28-day window at month five, up 32% in clicks and 42% in impressions from the previous 28 days.
Ranking in Germany is not the same as English-language SEO. Language, competition and Google.de all matter.
I’m Nazirul Islam Nakib, an SEO specialist. Here is what the project involved.
Project snapshot
- Industry: organic food eCommerce
- Platform: Shopify
- Business location: Germany
- Target market: Germany
- SEO type: Google SEO, Bing SEO and LLM SEO
- Timeline: 5 months; screenshot taken at month five
Month-over-month results (28-day comparison)
| Metric | Previous 28 days | Last 28 days | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total clicks | 4,560 | 6,040 | +32% |
| Total impressions | 149,000 | 211,000 | +42% |
| Average CTR | 3.1% | 2.9% | – |
| Average position | 9.8 | 8.9 | +0.9 positions |

The move from 9.8 to 8.9 looks small. It means more pages crossing from page two to page one, which is where clicks tend to build.
What I did
Months 1 to 4: fix the foundation
Shopify has common technical issues: duplicate content, URL structure, pagination and heavy product images. I fixed these first. See Shopify SEO.
Content in German
German buyers research before they buy. I built content that answers questions German consumers search for, written for Google.de.
LLM SEO
I structured the site so AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity could understand the brand and cite it when relevant. See LLM SEO.
What I learned
- Fixing technical problems first made the content work harder.
- Local-language content beats translated copy.
- Growth at month five came from earlier groundwork, not a lucky spike.
These numbers are from one store. Other markets and competitors will behave differently.
Frequently asked questions
Is SEO different outside English?
Yes. Search habits, language and competitors differ, so content and keywords must be local.
Why did CTR dip slightly?
More impressions from new queries often lower the average CTR even as clicks rise.
Does Shopify need special SEO work?
Yes. It has platform quirks around duplicates, collections and URLs.
