Next.js SEO expert

A Next.js SEO expert who makes a JavaScript site crawlable, fast and found.

Next.js and other headless setups give developers freedom, and give Google more to work out. Rendering, metadata, routes and redirects all need care. I work with your developers so the site is easy to crawl and quick to load.

What it is

What a Next.js SEO expert does

Next.js SEO is the work of making sites built with Next.js, and similar JavaScript and headless frameworks, easy for search engines and AI crawlers to read. The framework offers server rendering, static generation, incremental updates and tools for metadata, sitemaps and redirects. Used well, it can be excellent for SEO.

Used carelessly, it can hide content from crawlers, produce the wrong status codes or ship slow pages. Content that only appears after client-side code runs may be missed. Dynamic routes can create many near-duplicate pages. Metadata may be set in the wrong place or not at all. AI crawlers often read less JavaScript than Google, so content that needs scripts to appear can be invisible to them.

A Next.js SEO expert reviews how each type of page is rendered, what the crawler receives, how routes, redirects and canonicals behave, and how fast pages load in the real world. I write clear tickets your developers can act on, and test the result. The foundation is technical SEO, speed is in Core Web Vitals, and the overview is on my CMS SEO page.

What I fix

The Next.js and headless problems I fix most often

Rendering strategy

Choosing server rendering, static generation or incremental updates for each page type, so crawlers receive real content in the HTML.

Metadata and canonicals

Titles, descriptions, canonicals and social tags set correctly per page, including dynamic routes.

Routes, status codes and redirects

Correct 200, 301 and 404 responses, no soft 404s, and a clear redirect setup in the framework configuration.

Sitemaps and robots

Sitemaps generated from your real content, with robots rules that keep staging and utility routes out.

Internal links

Real links crawlers can follow, instead of click handlers, with pagination and filters that stay crawlable.

Core Web Vitals

Image handling, scripts, fonts and hydration cost reviewed, so pages are fast on real phones.

Structured data

JSON-LD added server-side for organisation, articles, products and FAQs, matched to the visible page.

AI crawler access

Key content present in the HTML and crawler rules checked, so AI tools can read and cite your pages.

The difference

A JavaScript site built to be crawled versus one that hopes for the best

Google can render JavaScript. That does not mean it always does it well or fast.

Built to be crawled (what I do)

  • Real content in the HTML
  • Metadata set for every route
  • Correct status codes
  • Fast, light pages
  • Readable by AI crawlers

Left to chance (the risk)

  • ✓ Content that needs scripts to appear
  • ✓ Missing or repeated metadata
  • ✓ Soft 404s and wrong redirects
  • ✓ Heavy client-side code
  • ✓ Invisible to many AI tools
My process

How a Next.js SEO project runs

1

Crawl and render check

I crawl the site, compare raw HTML with the rendered page and read Search Console.

2

Fix rendering and routes

Rendering choices, status codes, redirects and canonicals, in the order that matters.

3

Brief your developers

Clear tickets with examples, so developers can fix things without a long meeting.

4

Metadata, markup and speed

Metadata, structured data and Core Web Vitals checked on real pages and devices.

5

Verify and report

Crawl, indexing and rankings checked after each release, and reported every month.

❓ Common Questions

Next.js SEO questions, answered plainly

Is Next.js good for SEO?
Yes, when pages are rendered on the server or at build time and metadata is set correctly. It can also hurt SEO if important content only appears after client-side code runs.
Yes. The same principles apply to Nuxt, Remix, Gatsby, Astro and headless CMS setups. Message me with your stack and I will tell you how I would approach it.
Google can render JavaScript, but it takes more time and resources, and not every other crawler does it. Putting key content in the HTML is safer for Google and for AI tools.
Yes. I write clear, specific tickets, review pull requests when asked and test the result in Search Console and a crawler.
Technical fixes can show in weeks, once Google recrawls. Competitive searches take longer. I give honest ranges, not promises.
