Competitor analysis expert

A competitor analysis expert who shows you why the sites ahead of you are ahead.

Guessing what your rivals do is expensive. I study the sites that rank for the terms you want: their pages, content depth, links and structure, then give you a short list of gaps you can close and weaknesses you can beat.

What it is

What a competitor analysis expert looks at

Your real search competitors are not always the businesses you think of as rivals. They are whoever Google shows for the terms you want. A competitor analysis begins by finding them in the live results, then comparing what they do against what you do.

I look at which pages bring them traffic, what they cover that you do not, how deep and well structured their content is, which sites link to them, and how fast and clean their sites are. I also look for where they are weak, because that is where you can win soonest.

The output is a plain list of opportunities ranked by effort and payoff. It feeds directly into keyword research, content SEO and link building.

What I compare

The areas covered

True search competitors

The sites that actually rank for your target terms, which may differ from your business rivals.

Keyword and content gaps

Topics and terms they rank for that you do not cover yet.

Page-level comparison

How their top pages are structured, how deep they go and what they answer first.

Backlink comparison

Where their links come from and which of those doors are open to you.

Technical comparison

Speed, structure and indexing issues that give them an edge or hold them back.

AI search presence

Whether they are being cited by ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and for what.

My process

How the analysis runs

1

Find the real rivals

I check live results for your priority terms to see who you are truly up against.

2

Collect the data

Traffic, keywords, pages, links and technical health for you and each rival.

3

Compare side by side

Gaps, strengths and weaknesses become clear when everything sits on one sheet.

4

Rank the opportunities

Each finding gets an effort and impact rating so you know where to start.

5

Hand over a plan

A short action list, not a data dump, plus a call to talk it through.

Turning findings into action

Analysis only matters if you act on it. For a site that is behind, an SEO audit shows your own side of the comparison. If rivals overtook you recently, see SEO recovery. To compete in other countries, pair this with international SEO.

Often not. A news site, a directory or a marketplace may be what you really compete with in search results.
No. The aim is to find what they miss and do better, not to mirror them.
Industry SEO tools for data, combined with reading the actual results and pages myself. Tools show numbers. The judgement comes from review.
