Bing is much smaller than Google for this store, so the numbers are small. The direction is still useful: clicks, impressions and CTR all rose.

The starting point: a crowded fashion niche

Fashion e-commerce in Europe is one of the hardest places to rank. Large marketplaces, big fashion brands and thousands of small stores fight for the same product and category searches. A store in this market needs steady work on every layer, not one big fix. The store runs on Shopify and is managed from Germany. I started on 1 June 2026 and work on three layers together: technical, on-page and off-page.

What I work on

Technical SEO. Making sure search engines can crawl, understand and index the right pages. Shopify stores need regular checks here, because collections, filters and product variants can create many near-duplicate URLs. See my technical SEO service. On-page SEO. Clear titles, descriptions, headings and content on collection and product pages, so each page matches what shoppers actually search for. See my ecommerce SEO service. Off-page SEO. Building relevant, trustworthy links and mentions from outside the store, which matters a lot in a competitive niche. See link building. I am not listing each individual change, because the work is still running and the client’s setup is private.

Where the traffic comes from

Google Search Console top countries by clicks for a Shopify fashion store, Germany 69%)
Country Share of clicks
Germany 69%
Austria 10%
Italy 5%
Switzerland 4%
Spain 1%
Germany, Austria and Switzerland together bring about 83% of clicks. That fits a German-run store selling in the German-speaking market. Italy and Spain show the store also reaches shoppers beyond that region. The remaining clicks come from other countries.

Visibility in AI features

Search Console generative AI features report for a Shopify fashion store, impressions 33.2K vs 24K)
Search Console has a beta report for Google’s generative AI features. An impression there means a link to the site was shown inside one of these features. Impressions rose from 24K to 33.2K, about +38%. In the chart, the line for the earlier period is shorter than the line for the last three months, so the two totals are not fully like for like. The trend in the daily line is clear, though: the last weeks are the highest of the period.

Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance report for a Shopify fashion store showing citations from Microsoft Copilot and partners from May to October)
Bing Webmaster Tools also has an AI Performance report. It shows how often the site is cited as a source in answers from Microsoft Copilot and its partners. Over the six months shown, the store received about 1.2K citations, with an average of 2 different pages cited per day. Citations stayed low in May and June, started to climb around August, and reached their highest daily peaks (over 40) in October.

What the numbers mean

Clicks grew faster than impressions. Google clicks rose about 26% while impressions rose only about 3%. That is why CTR went from 1.1% to 1.4%. Visitors came from a similar number of searches, but more of them clicked. Average position slipped slightly. It moved from 9.3 to 10. Average position is one blended number across every query, so I do not read it as a win or a loss on its own. I watch positions by page group and by query type instead. Both search engines moved the same way. Clicks and CTR rose on Google and on Bing. Visibility in AI features also grew on both, which is a good sign for the future of the store’s search presence.

How to read these numbers honestly

  • Work started on 1 June 2026. The “previous 3 months” window (30 April to 29 July) already includes about two months of that work. So this comparison does not show “before and after”. It shows the later period against an earlier period that was already improving.
  • Technical, on-page and off-page work ran together, so I cannot say how much each part contributed.
  • Fashion is seasonal. Autumn and winter collections can change search demand, so I will keep tracking over a longer period.
  • Bing numbers are small, so percentage changes there move a lot with a few clicks.
  • Percentages come from rounded numbers in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • The work is still running.

What I learned so far

In a crowded niche, small steady gains add up. There was no single jump. The growth came from several layers improving together. CTR is a lever worth working on. When impressions are already high, better titles and clearer listings can turn the same visibility into more visits. Bing is worth watching. It is small, but it is also where Microsoft Copilot citations come from, and those grew across the period. One store is not a promise. These results are for this store only. Yours depends on your market, competitors and starting point.

Frequently asked questions

When did the work start?

On 1 June 2026. The project is still running, so this is a snapshot, not a final result.

Can SEO work for a fashion store on Shopify?

Yes. Shopify is a solid base for SEO, but fashion stores need careful work on collections, product pages, duplicate URLs and links. In this project, work on all three layers moved clicks and CTR up on Google and Bing.

Why include Bing in a case study?

Bing sends fewer visits than Google, but it also feeds Microsoft Copilot. Tracking it shows a part of search that Google reports do not.

Can you work on stores in other countries?

Yes. I work with businesses in 21+ countries. See my international SEO work.

Can you promise the same growth for my store?

No. I can promise a clear plan, honest reporting and white-hat methods.

Why is the client not named?

I protect client privacy. The numbers are real and come from the client’s own Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
