Hiring an SEO specialist from Asia works well when you pick on evidence, agree how you will communicate, and measure results in leads or sales. It goes badly when you pick on price alone. Skilled SEO specialists work across Asia, and so do plenty of weak ones, just as in every other region. The country matters much less than the person.
I am Nazirul Islam Nakib, a freelance SEO expert in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I work remotely with clients in 21+ countries, so I have a stake in this question. This guide tells you what I would check if I were the one hiring.
Why do companies hire SEO specialists from Asia?
The main reasons are a wider talent pool, direct access to the person doing the work, and lower overhead than many Western providers. None of that makes the work better by itself. It just means you have more people to choose from, so you can afford to be picky.
- More choice. You can look beyond your own city and compare people on results.
- Direct contact. Many Asian SEO specialists work as freelancers or in small teams, so you often talk to the person who does the work.
- Working hours that overlap. For clients in Europe, the Middle East and Australia, time zones are easy to manage, as the table below shows.
- Experience with international sites. Many Asian specialists work for overseas clients from day one and are used to multi-language and multi-country sites.
Time zones: how easy is it to work together?
| Specialist based in | Offset from UTC | Overlap with UK/Europe | Overlap with Australia |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bangladesh (Dhaka) | UTC+6 | Good: your morning is their afternoon | Workable: 4 to 5 hours behind Sydney |
| India | UTC+5:30 | Good | Workable |
| Singapore / Malaysia / Philippines | UTC+8 | Shorter overlap | Easy |
For the US, you will usually agree one or two fixed call slots a week and use messages in between. That works fine as long as the specialist replies on time.
The real risks, and how to reduce them
Hiring from any region has risks. These are the ones I see most often with remote hires, and how to deal with each:
- Unclear communication. Ask for a short written plan before you start. If the plan is vague, the work will be too.
- Reports that show activity, not results. Ask for clicks, enquiries and sales, tied to what was changed.
- Risky link building. Ask how links are earned. Bought or spammy links can cause lasting damage. See white hat vs black hat SEO.
- Promises that cannot be kept. Nobody can guarantee a ranking by a date.
- One person as a single point of failure. Ask what happens during holidays or illness.
What to check before you hire an SEO specialist from Asia
- Proof they can do the kind of work you need. Look for case studies with real numbers and a plain explanation of how they were achieved. You can see mine on the case studies page.
- Experience with your platform. Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and WordPress all have different problems.
- A manual review, not just a tool report. Ask for a sample. My free website audit is done by hand.
- Fluent communication in your language. Check this on the first call and in written replies.
- A clear contract. Scope, monthly reporting and how you can leave.
- A plan for AI search. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews now influence buying decisions. Ask how the specialist handles AI SEO.
- How payment works. Use a normal payment method and agree milestones, not a large upfront sum.
Which services an SEO specialist from Asia can handle for you
Most remote SEO work falls into a few areas. These are the ones I handle:
- Technical SEO: crawling, indexing, speed and structure.
- Content SEO: pages and articles built around real searches.
- International SEO: language versions, hreflang and country targeting.
- Ecommerce SEO: category and product pages that rank and sell.
- Local SEO: Google Business Profile, reviews and local pages.
- AI SEO: visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews.
Who is the best SEO expert in Asia?
Nobody can honestly name a single best SEO expert for the whole of Asia. The region is huge, and the right choice depends on your industry, your platform and your language. What you can do is compare candidates on evidence: results in a similar market, clear explanations, and honest reporting. Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to hire an SEO specialist from Asia?
Yes, if you check evidence, agree a written scope and pay through a standard method. The risks are the same as with any remote hire.
Which Asian country is best for SEO specialists?
There is no best country. Good specialists work across Bangladesh, India, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and elsewhere. Judge the person, not the passport.
Do I need a specialist in the same time zone?
Not usually. A few hours of overlap each week is enough for most SEO projects, provided replies are reliable.
How do I check an SEO specialist is genuine?
Look for case studies with real numbers, a track record that can be checked, and clear answers to detailed questions. Be wary of guaranteed rankings.
How much does it cost to hire an SEO specialist from Asia?
Costs vary by country, experience and scope. Cheap does not mean weak, and expensive does not mean good. Compare what you get, not only what you pay.
Can you work with my company?
Yes. I work remotely with clients in 21+ countries. Send me your site through the free website audit and I will reply within 24 hours.
