The short answer

What a technical SEO expert actually does

Technical SEO is everything that happens before a visitor reads a word of your content: whether search engines can find your pages, load them, understand them and decide they are worth showing. A technical SEO expert works on the parts of your site that visitors never see: crawl paths, indexing rules, page speed, structured data, redirects, duplicate pages, rendering, and the way your URLs and internal links hang together.

When these are wrong, good content stays invisible. When they are right, every other part of SEO works harder. That is why I usually look here first. A site with strong content and a broken foundation is the most frustrating kind to own: you did the hard part and still do not rank. It is also the most rewarding to fix, because the gains are often quick.

I am Nazirul Islam Nakib, an experienced technical SEO expert, technical SEO consultant and SEO strategist. I have fixed technical problems on Shopify, WordPress, Magento, BigCommerce and custom-built sites for clients in 21+ countries, and I do the work myself. If you are looking for a technical SEO specialist or a technical SEO services provider, you get one person who finds the problem, fixes it or briefs your developer, and checks the result. Before you commit to anything, my SEO audit shows exactly where your site stands.

What I fix

The technical areas I work on

Not every site needs all of these. The audit tells us which ones are costing you traffic.

Crawling and indexing

Pages that should rank but are not indexed, junk pages that waste crawl budget, robots.txt and sitemap mistakes, and the "Crawled, currently not indexed" reports in Search Console.

Site architecture and internal links

A clear structure where every important page is a few clicks from the homepage and linked with descriptive anchor text, so authority flows to the pages that earn you money.

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Slow images, heavy scripts, layout shifts and sluggish interactions fixed on real devices, not just a good score in a lab test. See my Core Web Vitals work.

Structured data

Schema markup that tells Google and AI tools exactly who you are, what you sell and who wrote it, written to match what is on the page.

Duplicates, canonicals and redirects

Parameter URLs, near-duplicate pages, redirect chains and wrong canonicals that split your ranking signals between pages.

JavaScript and rendering

Content that exists for visitors but not for crawlers because it loads late or only after a click. I check what Google actually sees.

Mobile and security basics

Mobile layout problems, mixed content, HTTPS issues and the small technical flags that quietly lower trust.

Migrations and rebuilds

Moving platform, domain or design without losing the rankings you have earned. A redirect map and a pre-launch check are the difference, which is what a site migration service covers.

My process

How a technical SEO project runs

1

Crawl and review

I crawl the whole site, read your Search Console reports and check how Google renders key pages. This is manual work, not a tool export, and it is the same method as a full SEO audit.

2

Find the real cause

Ten warnings do not mean ten problems. I separate the few issues that affect rankings from the noise a tool flags.

3

Prioritise by impact

You get a ranked list: what to fix this week, this month and never. Each item says why it matters and how hard it is.

4

Fix or brief your developer

I implement fixes where I can, and for anything that needs a developer I write clear tickets they can act on without a meeting.

5

Verify in Search Console

After each change I check indexing, crawl stats and rankings, so we know the fix worked rather than assume it did.

Warning signs

Signs your site needs a technical SEO expert

If you recognise two or three of these, the cause is probably technical.

Good pages, no rankings

You publish solid content and it never gets past page three, even for easy terms.

Pages missing from Google

Search Console shows a growing list of pages that are discovered or crawled but not indexed.

A slow, jumpy site

Pages take several seconds to load on mobile, or content moves while people try to tap it.

A redesign or migration is coming

You are changing platform, domain or structure, which is when most sites lose traffic they never recover. Plan a site migration before you launch.

A sudden drop in traffic

Traffic fell after an update, a plugin change or a developer deployment, and nobody can say why. That is a case for SEO recovery.

Speed

Core Web Vitals: what technical SEO means for speed

Speed is where technical SEO meets real people. Google measures three Core Web Vitals on real visits to your site: how fast the main content loads (Largest Contentful Paint, good at 2.5 seconds or less), how quickly the page responds when someone taps or clicks (Interaction to Next Paint, good at 200 milliseconds or less) and how stable the layout stays while it loads (Cumulative Layout Shift, good at 0.1 or less). A page passes when at least 75% of visits meet each threshold.

A lab score is not the same thing. I check field data from Search Console and the Chrome UX Report first, because it shows what your visitors actually experience, then trace the cause: oversized images, render-blocking scripts, slow servers, third-party tags or a heavy theme. Fixes are ordered by effect, so the first change is the one that helps most. Speed is a ranking signal, but its bigger value is that a faster site keeps visitors and converts more of them. My Core Web Vitals and website speed optimization pages go deeper.

AI search

Technical SEO for AI search: can ChatGPT and Gemini read your site?

AI tools can only recommend what they can reach and understand. Many sites quietly block them: a robots.txt rule written years ago, content that only appears after JavaScript runs, pages behind a cookie wall, or no clear structure to tell a model what the page is about. Google AI Overviews draw from the same index as normal search, while tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity use their own crawlers and search partners, so both layers need to be open.

As part of every technical project I check which crawlers can access your content, whether key pages render without scripts, whether your structured data and entity details are consistent, and whether each page leads with a clear answer. This is where an AI SEO expert and a technical SEO expert overlap. If AI visibility is your goal, see my AI SEO services and the technical SEO checklist for AI search visibility.

How fixes are chosen

How I prioritise technical SEO fixes, and what you receive

A crawl tool can list thousands of issues, and most do not matter. The skill is knowing which ten do. I rank every finding by four things: how many important pages it affects, how much traffic or revenue is at stake, how hard it is to fix, and how risky the change is. The result is a short, ordered plan instead of a long report nobody acts on.

What you receive is practical: a baseline of where you stand today, a ranked fix list in plain language, developer-ready instructions for anything that needs code, and a follow-up check after each change goes live. I measure progress in Search Console, with indexed pages, crawl stats, Core Web Vitals and the clicks and impressions that follow. I will also tell you honestly what technical SEO cannot do. It removes barriers, but it does not guarantee a position, because competition and your content still matter.

Platform matters too. I work with WordPress, Shopify, Magento, Webflow and Next.js sites, and each has its own typical traps. For moves between platforms, see site migration, and for lost traffic, SEO recovery.

Why it matters

A site with a clean foundation versus one without

Technically sound site

  • Important pages indexed within days
  • Fast, stable pages on mobile
  • Clear structure Google can follow
  • Schema that matches the page
  • New content ranks faster

Technically broken site

  • ✓ Pages stuck as discovered, not indexed
  • ✓ Slow loads and layout jumps
  • ✓ Orphan pages and redirect chains
  • ✓ Missing or wrong structured data
  • ✓ New content ignored for months

Technical SEO services: what to look for in a technical SEO company or consultant

Technical SEO is easy to oversell, because few buyers can check the work. Whether you are comparing a technical SEO company, a technical SEO agency, a freelance technical SEO consultant or a technical SEO specialist, ask for the same five things.

First, a named person who will actually work on your site. Second, a clear method for ranking fixes by impact, not a PDF of every warning a tool produced. Third, experience with your platform and with JavaScript-heavy sites, where rendering problems hide. Fourth, awareness of international setups, such as hreflang and country targeting, if you sell in several markets. See my international SEO service. Fifth, reporting that shows indexed pages, Core Web Vitals and clicks, not a health score.

Nakib IT is a technical SEO company built around one expert. You get a defined scope and a regular reporting rhythm, with the technical SEO consultant doing the work rather than passing it along. Developers are welcome on calls, and I write briefs they can build from. If you want to start small, a free website audit shows what I would look at first.

Good to know

Where technical SEO ends and the rest begins

Technical SEO makes your site easy to find and understand. It does not write your pages or earn your reputation, so it works best alongside the other layers.

Once the foundation is solid, on-page SEO makes each page match its searcher, keyword research decides which pages to build, content SEO fills the gaps, and link building adds the authority that tips close races your way.

If you also want to be recommended by ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, my AI SEO services rest on the same technical base: AI tools can only cite what they can crawl and parse. For my full background, see the home page of Nakib IT, an SEO service provider in Bangladesh working with clients in 21+ countries, or read about me as an SEO expert in Bangladesh.

I work as a holistic SEO expert, which means technical health, content, links and reputation are planned together. Fixing only one of them rarely moves the needle, so I tell you first which one is holding you back. I also work as a programmatic SEO consultant for sites with large catalogues or many locations. The rule is simple: scale only what is genuinely useful, and keep every generated page unique, accurate and worth indexing.

I work as a professional SEO expert and consultant: a written scope, regular reports and one point of contact. No jargon and no hidden steps.

❓ Common Questions

Technical SEO questions, answered plainly

Who is the best technical SEO expert?
Judge by evidence, not titles. Look for a named person, real case studies with Search Console figures and a clear way of prioritising fixes. I am a proven technical SEO expert with 8+ years and 1,200+ projects, and the case studies show the numbers.
A technical SEO audit is a structured review of how search engines crawl, render and index your site, covering indexing, speed, structure, duplicates, structured data and mobile. Mine ends with a ranked fix list. See my SEO audit service.
Yes. AI tools can only cite what they can crawl and parse, so blocked crawlers, hidden content and missing structure all reduce your chance of being recommended. See my AI SEO services.
The titles overlap. I work as an expert, consultant and specialist in one: I diagnose the problem, advise on priorities and either fix it myself or brief your developer. You can hire me for a one-off audit or ongoing work.
It depends on the size and platform of your site, how many issues an audit finds and whether you want advice only or hands-on fixes. A 30-page business site and a 50,000-page store are very different jobs. You get a clear scope and price after a free first look, before any work starts.
A focused audit of a small or medium site usually takes about a week, and a large store or enterprise site takes longer. You receive a ranked fix list, so work can begin on the highest-impact items straight away.
Technical SEO is the work that lets search engines crawl, render, index and understand your website. It covers speed, site structure, indexing rules, structured data, redirects and mobile usability. Content and links come on top of it, but they cannot make up for a weak foundation.
The clearest moments are before a redesign or migration, after an unexplained traffic drop, when pages will not index, and when a site is slow enough that visitors leave. If your content is strong and rankings still stall, a technical review is usually the next step.
A general consultant covers strategy, content and links. A technical SEO expert goes deeper into how the site itself is built: crawling, rendering, speed and structured data. I do both, but I lead with the technical layer because everything else depends on it.
WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and custom-built sites. The principles stay the same. The fixes are different on each platform, and I know where each one tends to go wrong.
Where the platform allows it, yes. When a fix needs a developer, I write a clear, ordered brief so they can implement it quickly, and I check the result afterwards.
A focused fix list can be done in a few weeks. A large store or a migration takes longer. You will see crawl and indexing improvements first, with ranking changes following over the next few months.
