Chat on WhatsAppYour Google Business Profile is the free listing that appears in Google Search and Maps with your hours, reviews, photos, phone number and directions. For many local searches, it matters more than your website.
Most profiles I see are incomplete, have the wrong categories, or carry old information. Some have been hit by suspensions caused by well-meant mistakes: keywords added to the business name, a virtual office used as an address, a duplicate listing created years ago.
My job is to fix those problems safely and then make the profile as complete and useful as it can honestly be. That includes the right primary and secondary categories, a clear services list, accurate hours, good photos, regular posts and fast answers to questions. It is the base of the other local work, from local citations to review management.
New profiles created correctly, and help through Google’s verification steps.
Old, duplicate or wrong listings merged or removed, with the right process.
The right primary category and a full list of services, so you match real searches.
Real photos, a clear description and regular posts that show you are active.
Hours, holiday hours, attributes and contact details kept current.
If your profile is suspended, I find the cause and prepare a proper reinstatement request.
Trust is earned in the details, so these are the rules I work by on every local project.
I ask for manager access to your Google Business Profile, never your password, and you can remove me at any time.
Reviews come from your real customers. Buying or inventing them breaks Google’s rules and can get a profile suspended.
Local results depend on distance, competition and the searcher. I will show you the data, not make guarantees.
Each edit to your profile, listings and pages is logged, so you always know what was done and why.
If a tactic will not help your business, I will say so rather than bill you for it.
Every field, category, photo and review is checked against what customers see.
Wrong names, address problems and duplicates are dealt with first.
Services, description, photos and attributes are filled in properly.
Simple, regular updates that keep the profile fresh.
Views, calls, direction requests and website clicks reported monthly.
A strong profile works best with accurate listings elsewhere, real reviews and a website that supports it. See local citations, review management and local landing pages. If you have several branches, read about multi-location SEO. The full picture is on my local SEO services page.
A Google Business Profile is free to create and easy to damage. A wrong name, a bad address or a careless edit can get a listing suspended, and a suspended profile means lost calls and directions. I hold HubSpot and Semrush certifications and have more than eight years of experience across 1,200+ projects, so you deal with an independent SEO expert and SEO consultant, not an account manager passing notes.
Local SEO has many moving parts, and each needs someone who understands how they fit. As your SEO strategist, I keep this work connected to the rest of your local presence, so that what happens here supports your profile, your website and your reputation instead of pulling against them.
My SEO expert in Bangladesh home page page explains how I work with every kind of business, and the local SEO services overview shows how this piece sits alongside the others.
Google's guidelines say a business is eligible for a profile if it makes in-person contact with customers during stated hours, either at a place customers can visit or by travelling to them. Online-only businesses and ones without that contact are not eligible. I check this before anything else, because trying to fix a profile for a business that should not have one is wasted effort.
The business name must reflect your real-world name, as customers see it on your signage, stationery and website. Keywords, taglines, service lists, store codes, phone numbers, addresses and opening hours do not belong in it. Adding them can lead to an edit or a suspension, and any ranking gain is short-lived. If your name is already stuffed, I help you change it back and explain to your team why.
Each location also needs its own accurate address. P.O. boxes and remote mailboxes are not accepted, and one profile is allowed for each physical location.
If you go to customers rather than welcoming them, you are a service-area business. Google's guidance is to create one profile for the central office, hide the address from the public listing if customers do not visit it, and list the areas you serve. Areas should be realistic, and Google generally expects them not to stretch much beyond about two hours' drive from the base.
Hybrid businesses, which have a staffed storefront and also travel, can show the address and add a service area. Businesses selling age-restricted products have extra limits. Because the rules differ by case, I read your actual setup, confirm which group you fall into and configure the profile to match it, so the profile reflects reality.
This is also where many businesses go wrong. Creating a second profile for every town you serve, using a friend's address or a rented desk, is the quickest route to suspension.
A rented mailing address where nobody from your business actually works is not eligible, and Google's guidance says so plainly. A shared or co-working space can qualify only when your business has its own signage, stated hours and staff on site during those hours. A business run from home can use a profile, usually as a service-area business with the home address hidden.
If you have been using an address that does not meet the rules, I would rather tell you now than watch the profile be removed later. We then plan a compliant setup, which may mean hiding the address, correcting the listing or moving to a service-area model.
Categories are the strongest setting you control. Google's advice is to choose the fewest and most specific categories that describe what the business is, not everything it does. I pick one primary category after studying the competitors that currently rank, add secondary ones only where they are accurate, and avoid adding attributes as categories.
Hours should reflect when customers can really reach you. Appointment-only businesses generally should not list hours, and seasonal businesses should mark themselves temporarily closed instead of leaving old hours showing. The business description should explain what you do in plain words and, by Google's rules, must not carry links, sales offers or promotional pricing.
Photos, services and products give shoppers reasons to choose you. I advise on the images worth uploading, which should be real and recent, write service descriptions without keyword stuffing and set up a simple routine for posts, so the profile looks alive without becoming a daily chore.
I also review the questions customers ask and the way your profile answers them. Repeated questions about parking, prices, opening times or how to book are usually a sign that the information is missing from the profile or the website, and filling that gap saves your team time as well as helping customers.
Google can suspend, edit, reject or remove listings that break its guidelines. Suspensions are stressful, and fast action helps. I begin by finding out why: reading the notice, comparing the profile against the guidelines and checking the business name, address, categories and any recent changes.
Then I help you fix what is wrong, gather proof that you operate where you say, such as signage, licences, invoices and photos, and submit a clear reinstatement request. Outcomes are decided by Google, so I cannot promise reinstatement, and I will not suggest evasive tricks such as creating a duplicate profile. If the business does not qualify, I will say so and explain the options.
People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews for local recommendations, such as a reliable plumber near them. As an AI search specialist, I treat the profile as one of the clearest sources of facts about your business: name, category, location, hours, services and reviews. Accurate and consistent details help these systems describe you correctly.
No one controls what an AI assistant says, and I do not promise mentions. I make sure the facts on your profile, website and listings agree, and that your services are described clearly. Read more in my AI SEO work.
Google reports how people interact with your profile, including views in Search and Maps, calls, direction requests, website clicks and messages where enabled. I record a baseline, then track the same measures month by month alongside rankings for your key searches and the leads you actually received.
The plumbing case study shows 14,322 profile views and 172% more clicks, and the Melbourne cleaning case study shows 21,469 profile views in five months. Both are explained with context on their case study pages, and neither is a promise about your business.
A typical project covers an eligibility check, a guidelines review, correct name, address and category setup, service-area configuration if you travel, a description and services written to the rules, a photo and post plan, access set up through manager roles and monthly reporting.
You keep ownership of your profile at all times. I ask for manager access, never your password, and I record every change so you can see what was done.
Whether you hire a freelance local SEO specialist, an independent consultant or an agency, ask direct questions. Who will actually do the work on my business? Can you show relevant local results, with context? What will you change, and what will you ask me to approve? How will you report, and on what? Will you ever ask for my login, or create profiles in my name? Both are red flags.
Be wary of anyone who promises a ranking or a fixed number of results, sells a bundle without looking at your business first, or asks for passwords instead of manager access. A good company explains trade-offs, says what is outside its control and shows its work.
My SEO consultant home page page explains the services in full, and my about page tells you who I am. Or send me your details through the contact form and I will tell you what I would do first.
When a business asks me to review its profile, I work through the same checklist. Is the name exactly the real-world name? Is the address a genuine, eligible location, or hidden correctly for a service-area business? Are the categories specific and accurate? Do the hours match reality, including holidays? Is the phone number the one customers should call? Are there duplicate profiles for the same place, or an old listing for a previous address?
I also compare the profile with the top competitors for your most valuable searches, to see which categories, services and photos they use, and read your reviews for patterns worth fixing. A Google Business Profile expert should be able to explain every change in plain words, so you can see the reason for it and keep the profile in good order after I have finished.
I work as a holistic SEO expert, which means technical health, content, links and reputation are planned together. Fixing only one of them rarely moves the needle, so I tell you first which one is holding you back. I also work as a programmatic SEO consultant for sites with large catalogues or many locations. The rule is simple: scale only what is genuinely useful, and keep every generated page unique, accurate and worth indexing.
As a proven SEO expert, I can show real projects and real numbers on my case studies page. I would rather you judge the work than take my word for it.
